Keys handed over at Walsall canalside apartments

An exciting new development of quality affordable homes for the over 55s has officially opened in the heart of Walsall.

The first residents have moved into Lockside Pointe, which forms part of the new Lockside development in Birchills.

The wellbeing scheme, which is owned and managed by long term investor and placeshaper whg, boasts 50 stylish one and two bedroomed apartments. It also offers a personalised wellbeing service which enables customers to maintain their independence for longer.

Customer Carol, who is one of ther first residents to move into Lockside Pointe, said: “Moving to Lockside has been the best thing I have done in years. I love it here and everything is so beautiful.”

Connie Jennings, Director of Stronger Communities, said: “Our wellbeing schemes are designed to help older people live independently for longer, with community activities taking place that are designed to reduce loneliness and isolation, creating a community spirit that is both supportive and engaging.

“This is our sixth wellbeing scheme for people aged over 55, set within a wonderful new community with all amenities close at hand. It’s fantastic to see customers settling in and already enjoying the new facilities.”

 

Lockside is a new 324-home community on the sites of the former Caparo steelworks and Metafin factory. whg is working with Lovell Partnerships to transform the brownfield land which has stood empty for several years. This vibrant new place to live will provide a mixture of affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale homes; meeting multigenerational needs.
