We are pleased to share our Social Value report 2023/24, which highlights the impact we have made for local people, communities and the planet.

As a purpose-driven organisation, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, secure, and affordable home — the foundation for a successful life. In the last year we have built more than 500 new homes, ensuring that good-quality, affordable housing is available for those that so desperately need it.

Our development programme is also supporting jobs and helping to boost productivity by ensuring every region has the homes it needs to grow. Combined with our community investment services, we are making a tangible difference, providing people with the opportunities they need to pursue better life chances and build brighter futures.

Our Social Value report measures the impact of our work to support our customers, and communities.

£46.4m in Social Value: key outcomes

This year we achieved a total social value figure of £46.4m. Some of the highlights that contributed to this figure include:

  • £4.8m secured in unclaimed welfare benefits for customers. Many people miss out on welfare benefits they are entitled to, often due to simply not knowing about their entitlements, or complex claim processes. Our money advice service has helped customers access a total of £4.8m in benefits entitlements.
  • 106 households safeguarded from eviction through the provision of financial advice and support. Our money advice team have helped prevent 106 households from losing their homes, providing tailored support to manage rent arrears, debts, and financial difficulties. By intervening early, we have been able to offer solutions tho keep families secure in their homes.
  • Over 1,100 people helped to improve their health and wellbeing. good health is about physical wellness and mental and emotional wellbeing. Through our wellbeing programmes, we have supported over 1,100 individuals in taking steps to improve their health, whether by accessing healthcare services, participating in activities that boost mental health, or receiving advice on leading healthier lifestyles.

Our 2030 plan, through our social justice programme, sets out our commitment to reducing inequalities and ensuring everyone has access to the services and opportunities they need to thrive.

At the heart of this is our belief that everyone, regardless of their background, should have equitable access to services, opportunities, and a safe place to live.

By addressing the wider determinants of health — such as housing, employment, and education — we can help address inequalities.

As part of our social justice programme, we are committed to:

  • Reducing health inequalities by supporting access to healthcare, wellbeing programmes, and preventive initiatives
  • Ensuring everyone has access to essential services, such as education, training, and employment opportunities, which can help lift people out of poverty
  • Creating stronger, more resilient communities through regeneration, place shaping, and investment in community services
