whg’s annual social value report, published this week, has valued the positive impact of its work on local communities at £49.3m.
This includes developing long-term jobs and training programmes to help local people achieve their career goals, helping customers access financial support during hard times, and investing in health and wellbeing support to create stronger, healthier communities.
In 2022/23, the leading Midlands landlord’s development spend was worth £230 million to the local economy, a more than £60 million increase on last year’s figures.
Over the last year, whg helped more than 1,100 customers secure employment through their jobs and training service.
The landlord also donated laptops and tablets to five community projects, in efforts to bridge the digital divide in local areas.
This, in combination with their digital inclusion projects and learning services, has provided local people with the tools to access information and opportunities online.
Connie Jennings, Director of Stronger Communities, said: “whg are delighted to present our Social Value achievements for the last year.
“The work we have done alongside our partners has produced positive social, economic and environmental outcomes for customers.
“We aren’t just providing new homes; we are working to improve lives and strengthen communities through wider opportunities.”
