A lifesaving defibrillator has been installed at a new housing development in Tamworth, marking a first for whg.

The leading Midlands’ landlord worked with developers Redrow and charity Tamworth Have a Heart to provide the new defib at Amington Gardens.

The defib, which is an essential life-saving tool for anyone who is in cardiac arrest, is the first whg has had installed on one of its blocks. It was provided by Tamworth Have a Heart, who raise funds to place more defibrillators into the community and maintain them.

It is now available for use and is accessible to anyone. It can be found on the apartment suite on the corner of Ellastone Way, Boundary Drive and Florence Drive.

whg has 34 affordable homes under this phase of the Redrow development, where around 1,100 houses are being built as part of a new garden village.

Matthew Vale, Assistant Director of Construction and Quality at whg, said: “We want to build homes and communities where people feel safe, and this vital piece of equipment will help us achieve that.

“We are delighted to be able to support the Amington community and it is wonderful to know this potentially life-saving equipment is now on hand in the case of an emergency.”

Richard Cuthbertson, Redrow Midlands Area Construction Manager, said “For 50 years we’ve been building high-quality homes for our customers and having this essential lifesaving equipment available to them and the public is something every community should have. I hope to see more of this in the future.”

Keith Dawson from Tamworth Have a Heart said: “I’d like to thank Redrow for their generous donation of funds enabling us to install this AED, and also to whg for allowing it to be installed on their apartment block.”
